On behalf of AASTS, its officers, the council and international advisors, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the AASTS website. We have all witnessed enormous changes in VATS technique over the years. The first single port VATS publication dates back more than a decade. Since then, single port VATS has evolved from simple procedures such as sympathectomy to complex major lung resections.

These are indeed exciting times for single port VATS surgeons, as rapid development in technology and techniques may change the way we perform VATS forever. Better staplers and lens systems, robotic technology, hybrid operating theatres and navigation systems will allow a smaller more discrete incision, increase precision and better outcomes for our patients.

I sincerely hope that AASTS, through the generous support from leading figures and institutes in the world, as well as educational material from industries, can provide learning opportunities and increase awareness of single port VATS in the region.
